Course Objective:
The course will introduce you to the joy and beauty of painting with watercolours. You will learn the following:
- To work out the values in black and white using graphite, charcoal and black ink.
- To improve your drawing skills.
- The colour wheel.  Study the primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
- Learn to lay washes, get textures using a few materials/techniques.
- To use different shaped/size brushes to get the desired effect.
- To develop paintings with floral, still life and landscape themes.
- To simplify the subject by studying the shapes.
- To understand the watercolour paper and its characteristics.

Materials required
- 1 Pad of Sketching paper.
- 1 Pad Watercolour Paper 140 lbs/300 gsm,  size A3 (10inch x 7 inch/25.5 x 18cm).
- Board (wooden/plexiglass) size: half sheet ie 38x56cm (Alternatively, slightly larger than your paper size).
- A white butchers plate or palette with large wells.
- Synthetic and Natural Hair Brushes: No. 7 Round Brush, No. 10 Round Brush, 1/2inch Flat Brush, No. 2 Rigger Sable.
- 1 pencil (2B), 1 Soft Putty Rubber.
- Indian Ink, Willow Charcoal Sticks, thick graphite sticks.
- Cotton rag, Tissues, Household Sponge, and two jars to use as water containers.
- Watercolour Paints in tubes: Alizarin Crimson (Cool red), Cadmium Red (Warm red), French Ultramarine (Cool blue), Cobalt Blue (Warm blue), Cadmium Yellow (Cool yellow), Yellow Ochre (Warm yellow), Burnt Sienna (Earth colour), Burnt Umber (Earth colour), Paynes Grey, Sap Green.


SILK PAINTING WORKSHOP

Course Objective
You will learn the following:
- Stretch the silk fabric onto a frame.
- Draw and transfer your design onto a frame.
- Paint on silk fabric using steam fixed dyes.
- Learn to get interesting textures using salt, sugar, water, alcohol, sunlight, wax etc.

Materials required
All materials to be provided by the instructor. Materials included are as follows:
- Ponge’ Silk #05
- Outliner
- Steam fixed dyes
- Paint brushes
- Graphite Pencil
- Tools/Equipments
